Code of Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement

La Saeta Universitaria Académica y de Investigación strictly adheres to the international guidelines and core practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ensuring scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and ethical conduct in academic publishing.

Responsibilities of Authors

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Submitted manuscripts must be strictly original and unpublished. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification of results, is unacceptable.
  • Authorship and Contribution: Authorship must be limited to those who made a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.
  • Conflict of Interest: Authors must explicitly disclose any financial, personal, or institutional relationships that could influence or bias the research findings.
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI): Generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT or other LLMs) cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Any use of AI in research methodology or writing must be transparently disclosed.

Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers

  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts and peer review communications must be treated as strictly confidential documents.
  • Objectivity and Rigor: Evaluations must be conducted objectively, constructively, and impartially, without personal criticism.
  • Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must decline to evaluate manuscripts in which they have competing academic, personal, or financial interests.

Responsibilities of the Editorial Board

  • Publication Decisions: The decision to accept or reject a manuscript is strictly based on its scientific merit, relevance, and original contribution, without discrimination of any kind.
  • Impartiality: The editorial team ensures compliance with the double-blind peer review process, protecting author and reviewer anonymity.
  • Protocol for Misconduct: In cases of suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate submission, the journal will follow standard COPE flowcharts to investigate and publish corrections or retractions if required.
