Digital Preservation and Archiving Policy

La Saeta Universitaria Académica y de Investigación guarantees long-term digital preservation and permanent archiving for all published articles and issues (past and present), ensuring open access and the integrity of institutional scientific heritage against any technological eventuality.

Archiving Systems and International Preservation Networks

The journal is integrated into distributed archiving systems supported by the international scientific community:

  • PKP Preservation Network (PKP-PLN): The journal utilizes the Public Knowledge Project preservation network to automatically create secure, permanent archives.
  • LOCKSS Network (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): A distributed preservation system among participating libraries that allows the creation of permanent journal archives for restoration and preservation purposes.
  • CLOCKSS Network (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): A secure, long-term dark archive system ensuring content recovery in the event of publication interruption.

Internal Backup and Local Infrastructure

In addition to international preservation networks, the Universidad Autónoma de Encarnación (UNAE) maintains a multi-tier internal backup protocol:

  • UNAE Digital Repository: Permanent deposit and cataloging of institutional scientific output.
  • Cloud Backup: Encrypted, automated backups hosted on institutional enterprise cloud storage (Google Drive Enterprise).
  • Local Synology NAS Server: Internal physical storage on redundant NAS servers performing regular backups of the OJS database and asset files.
  • Print Archiving: Every volume features a physical print edition deposited for consultation and conservation at the UNAE Central Library.  Access UNAE Library Portal.
