Abstract
The purpose of this work was to conduct a comparative study of Paraguayan timber
exports from 2020 to the second quarter of 2022, given that exports have increased in
recent years, generating a positive impact on the country's trade balance. The objectives
were to compare the total volume of Paraguayan timber exports from 2020 to the second
quarter of 2022, to compare the FOB monetary value in dollars of Paraguayan timber
exports from 2020 to the second quarter of 2022, and to determine the percentage
variation in the volume and FOB monetary value in dollars of Paraguayan timber exports
from 2020 to the second quarter of 2022. The methodology was quantitative, since
numerical data were studied and information regarding timber exports was compiled. The
scope of the research was descriptive, since the characteristics of wood exports were
detailed as the facts were presented, and the degree of manipulation of the variables was
non-experimental. The data collection instruments were secondary sources such as the
Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), and the
National Customs Directorate. Data were processed in an Excel spreadsheet and
presented in a table to gain a clearer view of monetary variations in thousands of US
dollars and volume in gross kilograms, in order to compare the years of study. The results
obtained showed that in 2021, there was a greater amount of exports in volume and FOB
dollars, reaching a total of 9,105,289 kg with US$ 4,829,263 FOB, while in 2020 it totaled
6,526,279 kg with US$ 4,452,957 FOB. Therefore, the forestry sector continues to grow
through exports, gaining recognition from various countries for its quality and durability,
